We actively support our community and are good stewards of the environment.

What we give

We are committed to give back to the community where we live, work, and play to fulfill our business obligation of being a positive contributor to society. So, an annual budget is allocated for charities that are aligned with SIPCO’s values.

Our employees are also provided 2 working days per year to volunteer. Holding true to our values, we form meaningful partnerships and relationships with each charitable organization’s team to achieve the most favourable outcome.

How we give

Members of our team were empowered to select charities for us to support. We set out criteria and compared them against measures including: financial responsibility, practicality/tangibility, and alignment to SIPCO’s values, mission, and identity.

As a result, our outreach program formed partnerships with the below charitable organizations.

The Water Project

In 2017, we funded the Mumias Central Primary School project, which consisted of installing a 50,000-liter rainwater catchment tank, building new latrines, providing hand-washing stations, and educating students and staff about the importance of hygiene.

As a result, an estimated 2,000 students, teachers, and staff members now have access to a safe water source.

The Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre

We partnered with The Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre (DEWC) to help alleviate the financial stress of an underfunded Kitchen Program, which serves up to 15,000 meals to women in need per month.

In addition to these financial contributions, our team collects lightly used items throughout the year to donate to the women of Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside.

Seva Canada

We fund the restoration of eye sight and prevention of blindness in developing countries.

In 2017, we funded the Yushu Surgical and Treatment Camp in Tibet, China where 162 people received cataract surgeries and had their sight restored! We are continuing to provide cataract surgeries in Tanzania, Africa throughout 2018 to an estimated 200 people.

The Make-a-Wish Foundation

SIPCO grants wishes for 2 children with critical illnesses per year to provide an escape from their ongoing battles.

In 2017, we fulfilled the 2 wishes of visiting The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and releasing baby sea turtles into the wild!

Habitat for Humanity Greater Vancouver

We spent a day on a local job site to build safe, decent, and affordable homes for 6 families. Working alongside some of the future homeowners, we not only felt a sense of accomplishment and achievement, but also built new relationships and appreciation for each other.
